Oktoberfest is the highlight of our year at Cleveland Maennerchor, and we're proud to host one of the most authentic Oktoberfest celebrations in the Midwest. Here's everything you need to know to make the most of your visit!
What is Oktoberfest?
Oktoberfest originated in Munich, Germany in 1810 as a celebration of Bavarian culture. It has since become the world's largest folk festival, and German communities worldwide host their own celebrations. At Cleveland Maennerchor, we've been celebrating Oktoberfest for over 100 years.
Authentic German Beer
We import authentic German Oktoberfest beer specifically for this event. Our selection includes:
- Paulaner Oktoberfest Märzen
- Hofbräu Oktoberfest
- Spaten Oktoberfest
- Weihenstephaner Festbier
Beer is served in traditional 1-liter glass Maß steins. Don't forget to say "Prost!" when toasting!
Traditional Food
Our kitchen serves authentic Bavarian specialties:
- Bratwurst and sauerkraut
- Schnitzel with spätzle
- Soft pretzels (Brezeln) with mustard
- Potato pancakes (Kartoffelpuffer)
- Apple strudel for dessert
Live Music & Dancing
The Alpine Express band plays traditional Bavarian music throughout the weekend. Don't be shy - join in the traditional dances! The chicken dance and polka are crowd favorites.
Family Activities
Oktoberfest is family-friendly with activities for all ages:
- Kids' games and crafts
- Face painting
- Costume contest (wear your dirndl or lederhosen!)
- Stein-holding competition
